Empowerment is an important value at Appvia and forms the foundation for our vision to help companies to adopt cloud native securely. We also view it as our responsibility to give back and use our platform as a business to make the world a better place. We’ve partnered with the following initiatives to help to do our part to create positive change.
Appvia is a founding member of onHand: the world’s first ‘on-demand’ employee volunteering solution. Employees use the app to select volunteering opportunities like helping their local community, shop-drops for the vulnerable, or companionship for the elderly, which earn them Hero Points. These points are then transferred to plant mangrove and deciduous trees in Nicaragua, Madagascar and Mozambique to help offset carbon emissions.
Shadow to Shine is an initiative aimed at helping young people in London and other inner cities aged between 16-25 to achieve success in the workplace despite obstacles like coming from an impoverished area or having a criminal record. Appvia works with Shadow to Shine to offer support in many areas including mentoring, office visits to learn about the world of work and skills enhancement support like CV workshops and job search help.
Appvia plants trees and offsets CO2 through our merchandise provider, Pinksheep, and their sustainability scheme, Ora. By making sustainable choices like the Ocean Water bottles made from recycled ocean plastic, and the recycled notepad and pen Appvia sends as part of a new starter pack to new employees, we earn eco tokens that are transferred for tree planting and CO2 offsetting. In the last year, Appvia has planted 187 trees and offset over 1.1 tonnes of CO2.
